Kreisverkehr is play of five acts exploring relationship cycles through the retelling and manipulation of conversations I once had with two different men. Like driving into a Kreisverkehr (roundabout), it is easy to get stuck in a certain situation, reproducing it seemingly at every opportunity until you finally realize you’re driving in circles and manage to find the exit. In reproducing patterns of intimate relationships, this can have quite heavy consequences, though Kreisverkehr lightens this through the absurdity of dramatizing banal moments of real life and extra, extra, EXTRA long pauses.
Kreisverkehr is inspired by Ludgerikreis in Münster, a very weird conversation I once had while impatiently waiting for someone to pick out tofu and one of the most uncomfortable sentences anyone has ever said to me.
